He has a broken shoulder, a broken arm, a serious injury of the knee and a memory gap. The drunken woman had run away from him, he had already learned in the hospital from his wife. "When it happened, I documented an accident involving a cyclist. I do not remember anything more," says Power G. (37), a police technician. It is not known when he will get back on his feet and whether he will ever come back to duty.
The road is as straight as scored. Good visibility, new asphalt, clear signs. Only that when driving after dark it is better to be careful because the locals do not know what reflective clothing and their bikes often do not even have lights. And that was the circumstances of the collision, which took place here last Saturday evening near the village.
"The driver at the last moment saw the cyclist, did not manage to bounce back and jammed him with a mirror. The peasant had a lot of luck because nothing happened to him," police officers say, called to the place of the event. But the documentation had to be done anyway, and this task belonged to the police technician.
Power G. was just taking pictures when the Fiat appeared on the road. Danita R., 53, who led it, had to see the flashing lights of police cars. She should have stayed, but it never occurred to her. A moment later, she scolded the policeman and rode in her police cars with impetus. "She was pale, scared and drunk. She was close to the body of alcohol in the body," they describe the state of Danita B. uniform.
When a seriously wounded Power G. underwent surgery in the hospital, Danita was sobering up in police custody, and the next day she heard accusations of causing an accident with serious health detriment and driving under the influence of alcohol. "She pleaded guilty, threatens her with up to 12 years in prison," Krzysztof, spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Olsztyn, acknowledges.
