An unfortunate accident occurred on Saturday night (15 October) on the road running parallel to the national "sevens" near Elblag at the height of Nanina. The 21-year-old, according to preliminary findings, without wearing safety vest walked the roadway and was too late to notice the 31-year-old Audi driver a8 from Elblag.
The man died on the spot, he was wearing no reflective elements. The prosecutor ordered the corpses. Police officers determine the circumstances of the accident, including whether the Audi did not drive too fast.
Police officers recall why the glare is important?
Reflective materials are an important element in improving safety. Thanks to them, the driver sees a pedestrian or cyclist from a distance of up to 150 meters. The person without glare recognizes, however, from a distance of about 30 meters. It is therefore worth to use reflectors, bearing in mind those pedestrian, bicyclists, or mopeds in a car crash are always in a lost position. Thanks to the glare it is visible, thus safer on the road.
The obligation to wear reflective clothing applies to all pedestrians who move in the dusk outside the built-up area. This obligation does not apply to persons traveling on foot intended solely for pedestrians or on the sidewalk and in the residence zone, as pedestrians may use the full width of the road and take precedence over the vehicle.
