As every year, the turn of October and November is the time of hard work of police officers, especially those from the road route. In order for everyone to get there safely and return from visits to the graves of their relatives, the "ZNICZ 2018" campaign will be carried out throughout Poland. Please remember that this is also a time when we should take special care not to fall prey to criminals. Security depends a lot on us!
The next days are the time when many of us will visit the graves of our relatives. Road traffic will be big, especially near cemeteries and access roads to the necropolis - that's why we should take care of our own safety. As part of the police action "Znicz 2018", policemen will check the technical condition of cars and the way of transporting children. Let's remember the basic rules: adjust the speed of vehicles to the conditions prevailing on the road and remember to keep the gap between cars. We also remind you about the need to drive with low beam lights on. We also appeal to those drivers who will take a longer trip to make a break from time to time, and if possible leave earlier. When planning a trip, it is worth checking the route beforehand and possible difficulties that may occur on different sections. It is important not to drive "by heart" - in many places there will be organizational changes, some streets will be completely excluded from traffic, what will inform traffic signs For the leniency of police officers do not have to count the driver who will decide to sit behind the wheel under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
We also appeal to pedestrians, visiting relatives' graves, to use sidewalks and, if they are not available, from the side of the road. Before entering the road, be careful and walk in places designated for this. Although the law requires you to wear reflectIve tapes only outside the built-up area, we encourage you to always wear them. Walking in dark clothing, after dark it becomes visible to the driver from a distance of about 30 meters. A car traveling at the right speed overcomes such a distance within little more than a second. If the pedestrian has reflective fabric on his clothing, the driver can see it already from 150 meters. This is a big difference that greatly affects our security.
When choosing a cemetery, do not leave valuable things in cars. The thief is just waiting for such an opportunity. Remember that proper protection of property will protect us against unpleasant consequences of theft. If we are leaving for longer, let's also take care of our apartments - the watchful eye of the neighbor is the best way to scare off the thief!
We remind you the most important rules that will help us during this time:
If possible, use public transport. Special bus and tram lines will be "privileged" in traffic and will take us to where the private car will not be able to enter, let alone park.
Do not drive the car "by heart". In the areas of cemeteries, on the access roads to them, a temporary traffic organization will be introduced. Pay attention to road signs!
Remember - commands of a traffic policeman are more important than traffic signals and road signs! If a policeman forbids entry, then there is no time for discussion and getting into polemics. You have to follow the instructions.
Park the car in accordance with regulations, in approved places. Do not be selfish, make sure that your car does not block entering or leaving the road or access to a previously correctly parked vehicle.
People who decide to go to the cemetery on foot should use the sidewalks. If they are not there, they are obliged to move along the side or road, the left side of the road, remembering that the road is for cars and the time spent on pedestrians on it should be as short as possible. It is good to have a reflective element or flashlight with you.
In the vicinity of cemeteries, in addition to traffic patrols, there will be non-uniformed policemen who will pay attention to pickpockets and other perpetrators of crimes, wanting to use our inattention and distraction. Therefore, do not leave valuable items in the car in a visible place. They can become easy prey to thieves.
