In many countries, reflectors (flickers) are no longer viewed as simply stylish accessories/clothing items. They perform safety functions - this is one of the proven ways to minimize accidents, especially at night. They acquire timely relevance now - in the autumn-winter period when it gets dark early and dawn late.
Reflective flickers are not common in Tajikistan - they are not produced and rarely imported.
The highest rates of road accidents in Central Asia are in Tajikistan
According to the Ministry of Health, from 1,200 to 1,500 road accidents occur annually in Tajikistan, in which about 600 people die. Another 1,500 people are injured. In general, the mortality rate among road traffic accident victims ranges from 2.5% to 6.6%".
According to WHO estimates, this is about 18 victims for every 100 thousand of the population, which is the highest figure in Central Asia.
Meanwhile, the Tajik police calculated that about 50% of accidents are pedestrian collisions, 53% are speeding, and about a third are driving into oncoming traffic and violations of maneuver rules, 0.7% are drunk drivers.
It should be noted that drivers are not always violators, pedestrians often not only cross the road where it is convenient for them but also do not pay attention to traffic lights, the traffic police said. For both violators, a fine is expected for violation of traffic rules, but so far these fines have not given the desired result.
Neighbors wear reflectors for everyone!
One of the simplest ways to reduce the number of accidents is to wear reflectors. In some CIS countries, this practice has been used for several years. Flickers are worn by all road users as a separate accessory or item of clothing in the dark. The wearing of reflectors is both mandatory and advisory. The latter applies to countries such as Russia - wearing a reflector on a recommendation basis has been introduced since 2006, in Kazakhstan - 2010.
In Uzbekistan, the situation is somewhat different: wearing fleckers is mandatory and refers more to the driver, who, in addition to a first-aid kit, must also have a reflective vest in the car. Such amendments to the Road Traffic Rules of the country have been made since 2016.
Kyrgyzstan has started to show attention to flickers since 2018. So far, no resolutions have been adopted, but the traffic police promote the wearing of "road mascots" when driving in the dark.
And in Tajikistan, the traffic police continue to hope for fines ...
The reflector makes the pedestrian visible from a distance of 130-150 m
As a rule, a person, even in the dark, already from afar sees a car approaching with the headlights on. But the driver can distinguish a pedestrian who does not have reflective elements on his clothes, only from 30 meters.
If the car is traveling at a speed of 90 km / h, then its braking distance will be 2 times longer than the specified distance. Having a reflector, the pedestrian will become noticeable to the driver in the dipped headlights already from 130-150 meters.
It is worth remembering that the driver will take time to navigate in a dangerous situation and have time to react. Sometimes even a second can save someone's life.
What are reflectors?
Reflective elements are often present on sportswear, both for adults and children - but such clothes are not often found in Dushanbe stores, as well as flickers themselves. Hence the need for them arises to insure yourself and your loved ones from road accidents.
Meanwhile, reflective details in many developed countries of the world are considered very important - they are included in the design of models of many popular brands, especially children's clothing. This is very important for schoolchildren who often return home from school unaccompanied by adults, cyclists, motorcyclists, and anyone who values their safety.
It should be noted that reflective elements can protrude on clothing, as inseparable elements, or are sold separately. They have a large selection: for both children and adults. Their colors and designs are very diverse. They are stickers or badges and can be easily attached to clothing. Even in summer, flickers may be needed, where there is no lighting on the roadway in the evening.
What can Tajik startups do?
In Tajikistan, flickers are largely expressed in sporting goods, special uniforms for police officers, utilities, cars and, it seems, everything.
Meanwhile, reflective fabrics and elements are also conquering the global fashion industry, acting as a trendy, creative solution for youth clothing collections. They are widely used for structural elements of the everyday, special, stage clothes, and high fashion collections.
Examples of reflective elements are blind - bracelets, reflective stripes of various widths; inserts that are located on clothing or accessories.
In Tajikistan, this market is completely free.
Reflective fabrics and individual flickers would be great to use in the design of stylish national clothing. From reflective multi-colored threads, you can embroider national ornaments of gulduzi and suzane and other national ornaments for both women's and men's clothing, stylish geometric shapes, luminous stripes - in general, you can dream up a lot and become a pioneer in this matter.
And you can also simply engage in the production of stylish reflective flickers of different designs and colors, both for children, youth, and adults. Such products will undoubtedly scatter like hotcakes! Good luck in your endeavors.
