For a week, the children of the school, go to school by these pedal machines. These little pedal cars, which are rented to tourists to walk in the seaside resorts, have become a real means of urban transport. They have been modernized, with electric assistance. There are two pedal cars in use. For the moment, it is a test, careful, because the pedibus, which had been tried, finally did not find its pace of cruise, in Dunkirk. But, the idea is to create a real school bus, all year long. Transparent tarpaulins are installed on the sides to protect children from wind and rain. And when it's cold, they'll cover themselves! Anyway, pedaling, they will warm up.
As he puts on his fluorescent safety vest which is made of reflective materials and his helmet, a little boy says: "You do not have to go to school on foot and walk home, it's nice." There is a good atmosphere on board between children who talk about school and who tell their weekend. Thirty children and their parents were potentially interested in using pedal cars.
Beyond the simple transport action, it is a way to make children and families aware of the use of soft modes, to make parents understand that the car is not essential for driving children to school. School, on short trips of 300 or 500 m. This engulfs the approaches to schools and it finally takes longer. The problem is that such a distance is a little long to let the kids walk on their own. There, the schoolchildren are taken care of by the animator, whose mission stops only when his passengers have entered the school and are entrusted to the teachers.

There are two pedal cars, so two drivers and one of them were hired in at 35 hours. At the neighborhood house that is the support of this project. In addition to the trips, he is in charge of the maintenance of pedal cars. He also takes care of the messages on the environment, it is his role of animator. And then it is he who will supervise the volunteers who are wanted to ensure a few trips, during the absences of the official drivers. He is one of the first funded by the Solidarity Foundation, which aims to raise funds to innovate by creating service jobs.
