Human beings have always been attracted to the unknown and the mysterious. That is why, despite the risks, many people throughout history have tried to reach the ends of the earth, and go where no one has gone before, whether it is to go around the world or climb the highest peaks. high. Those who have succeeded have left their name engraved for posterity.

After the pioneers, many people have tried to emulate these milestones, and in fact, different forms of leisure and sport have been born from it. One of the best examples is that of those who when they have a little time do not hesitate to put on boots and carry a backpack on their backs to walk through inhospitable places. One of these places is the Alps, where many go there to practice various sports, such as hiking, mountaineering and all kinds of winter sports.

To make this goal easier for these fans, On, a brand dedicated to shoes and accessories for the practice of athletics and hiking has launched a curious cabin that serves as a refuge for those who dare to lose themselves in this fantastic and rugged landscape, which is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful in Europe. Its creator is Thilo Alex Brunner, head of the design department of On, who usually designs sneakers, something very different from his latest creation.

This peculiar cabin is reflective and has been located at about 2,500 meters high, to promote the launch of Cloudrock Waterproof, its first collection of footwear aimed especially at lovers of hiking. The On Mountain Hut, the name given to this refuge, has been located in the impressive Lunghin Pass, on the ascent route of the Piz Lunghin, a mountain in the Swiss Alps, the highest point of which is 2,780 meters. At this point three of the main water currents of the continent come together: the Danube, the Rhine, and the Po, which end in the Black Sea, the North Sea, and the Mediterranean respectively. The choice of this place is not due to chance but was the place where Olivier Bernhard, Caspar Coppetti, and David Allemann, conceived the brand.

"For us, mountains are a source of energy, ideas, and innovation. They have the power to invigorate and provide new perspectives. The first business plan in history was drawn up by our three co-founders as they walked in Engadin. You could say that if it weren't for these mountains, On wouldn't exist ", they state on their website.

And ever since, the Alps have always been present in his work. "Since then, they have continued to play a fundamental role in our development; Shaping our technology, our products, and our ethics. And why not? Overcoming the mountains requires serious research, planning, perseverance, and commitment. You have to do things well; There are no short cuts. We are proud to defend the same approach with our innovations", they highlight.

The cabin that serves as a refuge for those who dare to follow the route, is characterized by many elements. One of them is that it is based on ecological and sustainability criteria, since it is self-sufficient, leaves no residue in the environment, and is built with sustainable materials by the alpine environment. It is powered by energy generated from solar panels and uses natural rainwater, thanks to the installation of an accessory that can collect and filter rainwater for use, along with water collected and filtered from mountain streams. The exterior has been covered with reflective material, to minimize its visual impact in a unique landscape.

Its interior, which is divided into two floors, can shelter two people. Upstairs is the bedroom, while downstairs has a living room. In both spaces it has large windows that offer a spectacular view. The dominant note is simplicity, but without sacrificing style, with an interior almost finished with plywood, on walls, ceiling, and floor. The set is completed with a beautiful wood stove, a good idea if you take into account the cold temperatures that are reached in this place.

Without a doubt, this cabin will help those who dare to set out to conquer the Alps, if they are lucky enough to take refuge and rest in it.
