The fines that risk motorists who do not wear reflective vests

From January 1 2016, the security kits of all cars must have this element.

On January 1, 2016, a regulation entered into force obliging all motorists to incorporate a retro reflective vest into the safety kit of their vehicle.

The measure seeks that drivers are not expose to accidents or collisions when getting off their cars to repair any damage, especially if this happens at night or in situations where there is little visibility.

Authorities deliver reflective vests to drivers to promote their use

At noon on Saturday, the National Traffic Safety Commission, together with the Chile Security Association (ACHS) and the Automobile Club of Chile, delivered retro reflective vests to all drivers in O'Higgins Park. They approached the place.

If this implement is not available, motorists will be exposing to a minor fault, whose fine ranges from 0.2 to 0.5 UTM (from about 10 thousand to about 22,500 pesos).

Where the reflective vest should be wear?

The vest, which must contain fluorescent and retro-reflective material, has to go in a place that is accessible from inside the vehicle, such as the glove box.

According to the National Traffic Safety Commission, in the last ten years, 6,000 people have killed in the country.
