Temperatures have begun to fall below freezing, and tree frogs promise to be no better. As time goes by, we have full-fall autumn and with it an even shorter day and dark and dark evenings. Our runners have no choice but to accept the situation and move to the dark side of power - to run in the dark. Whether we are serving our mile in the morning before going to work or coming out of it in the evening, the dark ruler on our favorite tracks, namely darkness, is unlikely to escape. Let's test one of the reflective vests and increase your passive safety!
When running in this weather it is good to think about your thermal comfort. We don't have to be just like Eskimos, but a short-sleeved shirt won't be the same either. The correct portion of thermal protection and excellent passive safety will ensure a reflective vest from Decathlon.
Reflection until the eyes pass
Of the running vests I have worn so far, this one is without exaggeration best equipped with reflective material. Reflective surfaces can be found on the back, shoulders, armholes, in several places on the sides, on the abdomen and the cover lesion of the zipper. The runner becomes a giant, visible reflector.
The manufacturer guarantees minimum visibility from a distance of 120 meters, over a range of 360°. According to some sources, 120 meters should be enough to stop a car from 130 km / h on a wet road. Reflective material certainly did not spare the manufacturer, moreover, it was used from the quality production of 3M.
However, it will also please other materials and their processing. The entire back, except the upper parts in a reflective design, is led out in a mesh fabric. The armpits are also subtly meshed. Where no reflective or reticulated material is used, there is a bright yellow polyester fabric. It also adds visibility and safety in daylight.
Really for runners
When testing, I felt as if the person who designed this vest was a runner himself. He thought of everything. The vest is well ventilated while protecting the athletes from the wind in the right places. The rear part is pleasantly extended and thus protects some of the runner's parts.
The pockets, meshed inside, are large enough to hold even the largest cell phone, handkerchiefs or a handful of energy gels. The entrance is guarded by high-quality YKK zippers and cover flap. Moreover, the pockets are sewn so that they can also be used from the inside, where they form two more pockets. They are not closable, but also provide additional large storage space when needed.
High quality and robust zippers are also used for closing the vest. The cover flap is reflective tape on both sides. Also, the flap creates a so-called garage at the upper end, so that the zipper will not rub your chin when it is fully closed. The collar is processed into a collar. It protects from the wind and at the same time does not hurt or strangle anywhere.
