Personal protective equipment (PPE) is important - if it belongs to category III, it can even be vital. However, 44% of employees sometimes do not wear necessary parts of their PPE. But how do you get "PSA-lazy" employees to use these OSH products? Under the motto "Responsibility is yours" she wants to raise awareness that the wearing of protective gear is important.

The BGHM recommends that health and safety managers use short episodes in training and instruction. They not only remind of the wearing of the PSA but also loosen up the information transfer.
Occupational safety officers should keep in mind that PPE may only be the last stage of protective measures. According to the TOP principle, all technical and organizational protection measures must be exhausted before employees must wear personal protective equipment.
However, if a risk assessment has shown that PPE is essential then the employer must provide it and the employees are obliged to use it. The duty of inspection then lies with the employer or with a person appointed by him.
In general, it is recommended that employees be involved in the procurement and purchase of PPE. Because: If the protective equipment offers good wearing comfort and may even look quite okay, then they will accept it sooner. This increases the likelihood that they will carry them.
When washing PSA, the employer should also be generous and provide a service. Incorrect care, for example, of welder protection clothing or high visibility clothing which sew on reflective tape can quickly affect the protective function.
