The first shovel was given last May. The plant should be delivered in September 2021. On the hill of Castelluccio, the earthworks are completed. The construction of two new tanks will begin.
Acacia who take the road to Saint-Antoine, have necessarily noticed the huge crater that rips up Castelluccio Hill. It is there, at the end of a dented road, below the suburban area and the hospital center, that the site of the future Loreto gas station takes shape.
Started in May, the earthworks phase is coming to an end. In the area, the tracks of the excavator creak and the comings and goings of the compactor complete to smooth the platform before the next phase of civil engineering.
"The earthworks are 99.9% complete," says Guy Moment, project manager dubbed Lorenz, "we are a little ahead of schedule." The latter is in attendance, accompanied by Bruno Guerin, head of the environmental health and safety department, and Virginia, director of environmental and societal responsibility.
To enter the site of two hectares, it is necessary to show white paw. Michel, the guardian of the temple, badge the guests. "In the event of an alert, this makes it possible to quickly identify the number of people to evacuate", justifies Bruno. Impossible to cross the barrier without the rigor: reflective vests with reflective tapes, helmet, and safety shoes which made of reflective materials.
The future gas production site overlooks the current station, symbolized by two huge white spheres in which butane is stored, and which have been supplying some 17,000 customers since 1972.
"Instead of these two tanks of, respectively, 2,750 and 3,000 m3, we will have on the delivery of the site, two tanks of 2,500 m3 boxed in blocks of concrete that will blend in the landscape. Liquid propane, instead of the current butane ", says the project manager.
New tanks built on site
The highest point of the site offers a spectacular overview. It is on this esplanade that the administrative pavilion will be built. It is also from this belvedere that we can already see the beginnings of the second phase of the project.
On the lower landing, two huge craters mark the location of the future cylindrical blocks, excavated in the cliff, which will envelop the tanks. Two nailed walls have already been completed and provide support. In the coming weeks, the workers will work on the construction of rafts, thick concrete screeds on which the tanks and their cockpit will rest.
Due to the state of the road network serving Castelluccio, the construction of the two new spheres will be done on site. "We will track the hundreds of pieces needed for the construction of the tanks and they will be assembled on site. It is impossible to transport the tanks that would be built in the factory. " says Guy Moment.
Ironically, it is precisely the delivery of the new station that could remove the last constraints to the development of the road network. Currently, the zone "high threshold" extends over a radius of one kilometer around the plant. "It will be reduced to 125 meters around the risk area, says the project manager, so it will be limited to the perimeter. From the station. "
The safety of 5,000 residents is at stake, as well as the extension of the ring road, an old sea serpent of land use planning.
The construction of the Engine station is a colossal site. The company has injected 106 million Euros into this project, including 83 million from its own funds.
And if the concession that currently binds the supplier to the City will have to go through the bidding stage, the delivery of the station is scheduled for the month of September 2021. "We thus meet our public service mission ", says Guy Moment.
