The number of bicycle accidents in Schwerin has increased significantly - Police announce increased controls on cycling.

It came to a collision, the cyclist without wearing a reflective vest injured his head and leg, had to be treated in the hospital. Within 48 hours, four more accidents occurred in Schwerin that caused harm to cyclists. Place of action in two cases also: a petrol station exit. Five bicycle accidents within a very short time alarm the Schwerin police. "We are worried," says Schwerin police spokesman Steffen and appeals to all road users on two or four wheels, even more, to take care of each other.
In fact, the statistics speak a clear language. Throughout 2017, 141 accidents occurred in the city, involving cyclists. There are already 86 in the first half of this year alone. "If this trend continues, we will see a significant increase in bicycle accidents in Schwerin at the end of the year," explains Steffen.
The police spokesman announces increased checks on cycling, speaks of a focus of police work in the state capital. In addition to the appeal for mutual consideration, Steffen advises all cyclists once again to pay attention to the safety of their wheels, especially on functioning brakes and adequate lighting. "Every cyclist should also wear a helmet and reflective clothing with reflective tape for his own safety."
