Planning a trip in your vehicle represents greater independence to move towards the desired destination, however, to do it with total confidence it is best to conduct a review to avoid inconveniences on the road.
Each driver must make an ABC to their vehicle to drive quietly, thus avoiding accidents on the road.
What is an ABC?
Samuel Torres, the automotive mechanic, explains that the ABC is nothing more than a revision, cleaning, and change of the parts of the vehicle, to keep the proper functioning. The procedure should be performed when the vehicle is cold, this way you can open the hood and check the internal parts.
What to review?
Torres indicates that there are key elements that we must review before embarking on a trip. These are:
Brakes
The state of the brakes is decisive to know if you must travel or not. Check that all the elements (discs, shoes, drums) function correctly, besides seeing that the liquid level of the brake cylinders is the one recommended by the manufacturer.
Tires
The main points to review are correct air pressure (recommended by the manufacturer), alignment and balancing that will allow greater stability, maneuverability and less gasoline consumption. The tires must rotate with each other to extend the service life, with even and regular wear. You have to remember that you should always have an emergency tire.
When returning from a long trip, you should check again because factors such as heat, generated by rubbing with the asphalt, causes the tires to expand and increase their pressure.
Suspension
If you are going to walk through the uneven ground, or out of route, it is important to check that elements such as shock absorbers, stabilizer bar, springs, ball joints, among others, are in good working order to maintain the stability of the car.
Wiper washer
The vision that the driver can have is important, therefore, check that the feathers correctly evacuate the water, and that, in the same way, the water level of the windshield wiper is adequate. If possible, use water combined with a special windshield detergent.
Drums
Without it, the car does not work, so you have to check with the mechanic to see if the liquids have the right amounts.
Lights and guides
You should check that the low, medium and high lights work properly, to have a good view while driving at night or in rain. The guides serve for other drivers to locate it on the road.
Oil level
Check that when removing the bayonet, the oil is at the maximum level. It is also advisable to check the oil level of the gearbox and the transfer just as a precaution.
What to bring?
To be able to face any inconvenience it is necessary to bring tools, first aid kit, battery cables, fire extinguisher, jack, spanner, emergency tire, reflective vest, reflective tape, tire air gauge, and safety triangles.
Other recommendations?
Plan the route, review the alerts in official media if it is a holiday, some applications indicate places of rest and location of gas stations. Respect safety regulations, although it seems obvious, respect speed limits, safety distance and keep your eyes on the road. On very long trips, rest 10 minutes every two hours.
