The local police and youth council caught 284 cyclists during the 'E me velour campaign, who drove a non-traffic-safe bicycle in Knocker-Heist. 68 cyclists also ran into the lamp in Dammed.
"Many young people drive to the school, youth movement or sports club without being clearly visible in traffic," says spokesperson Isolde Van Enough. "Parents are not yet sufficiently aware that a traffic-safe bike and wearing reflective vests and reflective material can make the difference in traffic."

The local police Dammed / Knocker-Heist checked 1,683 cyclists during the dark months. A total of 352 cyclists (or 1 in 5) drove a non-traffic-safe bicycle. Of these, no less than 110 bicycles had no or a defective bicycle light. The cyclists who were in order were given some spoke reflectors as a gift. The other cyclists received a police report (of warning) and had to put their bike in order within a week.
Award ceremony Knocker-Heist
The young cyclists who drove with a traffic-safe bike and made an extra effort to be clearly visible in traffic, for example by wearing a reflective jacket, also had the chance to win a monkey light or cinema ticket. An innocent hand at the Knocker-Heist youth council announced the winners. The monkey lights went to Lucas Toehold, Gigs Sheldon, and Wyatt Shamateur. Cyril Poppa, Lie Gavels and Dion Belvedere each receive a cinema ticket. The presentation ended with a warm appeal. "The dark months are not over yet," said ships Annie Underhandedness. "Stay clearly visible in traffic and always move with a traffic-safe bike."
