A 47-year-old man died in the early hours of Monday after he was run over by a van on Route 5 Sur, at kilometer 12, in the municipality of San Bernardo.
As confirmed by Carabineros, the subject descended from his vehicle due to a mechanical failure in his truck, leaving two passengers inside it. After putting on his reflective yellow vest, he walked towards the back to put the safety-reflecting triangle, which serves as a warning for other drivers, but before doing so he was hit by the van, which also hit the truck.
The victim in safety vest died in the place of the impact, while the rest of the occupants of the truck received slight injuries and were taken to El Hospital. The driver of the van was in custody and will go to detention and then be formalized for the crime of homicide.
