In autumn and winter, pedestrians are the most endangered group of road users. Dark clothes limit their visibility, which is why Gorzow traffic policemen are carrying out activities aimed at improving pedestrian safety. Police officers remind you of the obligation to have reflective vests.
Reflective elements irrespective of form or color increase the pedestrian's chance of avoiding the deduction. They may be objects attached to clothing, bands or vests. It is important that they are properly placed. That is in place visible to the drivers coming from both directions.
Under Polish law, all pedestrians on the road after dusk outside the built-up area are obliged to use reflective materials in a manner visible to other participants of the movement, unless it moves on a road intended only for pedestrians or on the sidewalk.
On the unlit road to the driver, the silhouettes of the pedestrians are noticed at the last moment, usually from a distance of 30 meters. However, if the pedestrian is equipped with a reflective clothing reflecting the light of the car, the driver will notice it already from a distance of 150 meters, which is about 5 times - explains Mateusz from the press team of the Provincial Police Headquarters.
