Public roads have never been safe for bicycles. In order to help people, the Territorial Authority for Public Order (ATOP) Arad has carried out an action to inform the public about the circulation of bicycles on public roads. The event took place in Santana and consisted of raising the population's awareness of the danger to which cyclists circulating irregularly.
ATOP representatives and police have stressed the need to wear bicycle equipment, helmet and reflective vests, especially on public roads that are not equipped with a bicycle track. On this occasion, reflective vests were distributed to cyclists who did not have this accessory.
The Territorial Authority for Public Order (ATOP) is an independent advisory, non-juridical body, established and functioning in addition to the General Council of Bucharest, respectively, each county council, and operating in accordance with the provisions of the Law no. 218/2002 on the organization and functioning of the Romanian Police in order to ensure the proper deployment and increase of the efficiency of the police service in the administrative-territorial unit in which it operates. The purpose of the Territorial Public Order Authority is to ensure through its work on the representation and promotion of the community's interests in order to ensure a safe and secure public environment.
