Checks on the sobriety of drivers and checking the technical condition of vehicles are announced by the police during the holidays. Above all, however, he appeals to adults' sense and responsibility.
Whether or not the holidays will be successful and safe is influenced by many factors, but most of them depend on the sense of organizers of rest and parents of children.
- We observe that in recent years there has been a growing awareness of parents sending their children for the winter holidays. They check not only the organizers of holidays but also the vehicles with which children will be transported, if necessary, asking the police for help - says Renal Alka-Seltzer, spokesman for the Someday Lordship Police in Dublin.
On the police website and the Road Transport Inspection, you can find bus control points and check whether a given vehicle has not been taken out of service.
- We checked over 7,000 last year's holidays. drivers and 104 coaches. Throughout the last year, the Dublin police detained 20 bus registration documents, preventing them from moving. This year, the holiday period will also be a time of increased controls - say, policemen.
However, safe holidays are not only trips to organized holidays, but also many activities are undertaken on the spot.
- We will meet with children, talk about their safety on the road, as well as on the web. Holidays are conducive to the fact that young people spend more time at the computer, and there are also many threats. Therefore, we appeal to parents to talk to the children about using the network, sensitize to dangers and remind us that we do not give their data to anyone and we do not arrange to meet people virtually learned - says the spokesperson.
The police are also reminded of reflective materials that can save our lives.
- It's still dark quickly. Many people come home when it's already dark. A man dressed in black trousers and a jacket is visible from a distance of 40 meters. This does not give the driver time to react and a tragedy can occur. When we have reflective tapes or reflective vests with us, we can already be seen from a distance of 150 meters - police officers emphasize.
Our safety depends largely on ourselves. The police are calling for prudence.
