Thursday marked reflexes day. NAF has tested what is best visible - and concludes that the safety vest is significantly better than sticks and ribbon. But only one in four uses some of its parts.
Get reflex up from the tray and on the body. Together we can make a big difference, says communications manager Niger Elisabeth Daedal in NAF.
The tests show that vests consistently provide 30 percent better visibility than reflectors and strip. The west was the test subject visible at 200 meters distance, while the same person without west hardly possible to spot before test car was 5 meters away.
Five meters gives neither room to react nor steering away. Even smaller reflectors and strip increases visibility considerably if they are correctly placed on the body. In urban traffic will, for example a reflective tape affixed around the calf or ankle, have a better effect than if it is attached to the arm, said Daedal.
Although the trend has been positive, still using only one of four reflexes, according to NAF.
Often remember one of their children to have the reflex, but forget themselves. Here we all have a job to do, say NAF CIO.
