Now that the days are getting shorter again and the ways to school are getting darker again, school children must be visible from afar.
The elementary school Engerwitzdorf-Mittertreffling has been trying for years together with the parents' association to motivate students to wear safety vests. This year, every schoolchild also received a reflective protective cover for their school bag from the parents' association. "We are very pleased that we were able to implement this project for the safety of our children," says Sabine Sturmberger, chairwoman of the parents' association. "Thanks to the neon yellow, reflective covers, our children can now be recognized from behind or the side from afar," says Elvira Grandl, director of the VS Engerwitzdorf-Mittertreffling enthusiastically. The covers also serve as protection against rain and snow.
Safety vest wearers are rewarded
This campaign was made possible by the financial support of the municipality of Engerwitzdorf and regional companies: Raiffeisenbank Region Gallneukirchen, Autohaus Schöndorfer GmbH, Oberösterreichische Versicherung AG and BTS Druckkompetenz GmbH. "The safety of the children has top priority, so of course we as a family-friendly community are happy to support this project," said Engerwitzdorf Mayor Herbert Fürst. In October, the protective covers were distributed to the students in all classes. In the next few years, the Taferlklassler will receive the protective covers. The safety vest collective pass campaign will start again from November - pupils in the first two classes who get to school in the morning with the safety vest will receive a stamp in the collective pass from the teacher.
