The 10-year-old Kio in yellow vest from Stuttgart did not expect that. His voluntary collection of rubbish in the district has provided for a stir. At Facebook, Kio was celebrated. And the waste management came with gifts.
Kio Yamada has captured the hearts of many people by storm. The ten-year-old boy from Sleuth actually only does what everyone should do: he cleans the garbage. The fourth grader likes animals and nature - and is annoyed by the garbage that is everywhere. That is why the boy regularly pulls away with bags and collects bottles, plastic and much more.
The Waste Management Stuttgart is enthusiastic
Andreas Ratingen from Rut was also very enthusiastic. He is one of four waste advisors who have been working for Stuttgart waste management since 2015. One of the tasks: to go to schools and kindergartens and to inform children about environmental protection and waste separation. At the Grandchild, every eight weeks, projects like a waste-free breakfast take place.
"We find it very great when children are disturbing environmental pollution," he says. As recognition, Kio has now received a letter, as well as professional cleaning utensils and a safety vest, so that he is better noticed in his work. In addition, Andreas Ratingen has invited Kos whole class to visit one of the city's recycling centers. There is also the offer to organize a lesson.
Kio has also written to the caretaker
Kio, he's been complaining for a long time: "We're not talking about the environment." He also recently handed over a handwritten letter to the caretaker. "I would like to ask you if the group that now collects the garbage could collect the rubbish not only at school, but also around the school. I would like to help, because I would like to do something for the environment, "he writes. He still waits for a reaction.
After all, the right equipment has Kio now. Over gripping pliers, waistcoats and buckets, he was as happy as other age-olds about a new phone. Andreas Ratingen wants to go to the teachers and leaders of Kos school - the Wiesenberger - and submit his proposals. He knows: Primary schoolchildren in reflective vests are particularly enthusiastic about nature conservation. And after all, he has a strong partner. Andreas Ratingen on Kio Yamada: "Although you are still young, you are an example."
